Service Description

Pattern Making 2: Jackets and Pants. Learn industry methods used to design your own wonderfully creative custom jacket & pant patterns. Working with industry slopers (patterns used for standard garment fit) students will make their own set of jacket slopers and use them through the semester to learn a wide range of techniques used in women's jackets & pants. For each lesson there will be an instructor demo, followed by student's simple sketch, interpreting the sketch in a pattern draft & creating the pattern pieces as their homework. Garment details covered in Pattern Making 2 include collarless jacket, jackets with shawl collars, lapels & tailored collars, facings, linings, button openings, 1 & 2 piece sleeves. Pants with zipper openings, pockets & waistbands. Students will start with pattern drafts, true-in and perfect their patterns and add seam allowances, hems & notches. Final semester project is a jacket design including sketch, original draft, full pattern set & sewn "fit muslin" garment created by each student & presented in class. Bring to first class: notebook & no. 2 pencils, drafting tools, 5 yds pattern paper, sloper set made in Pattern Making 1 class. Pre-Requisite: All students must take Pattern Making 1 before attempting this class. This class meets at the designer's studio - 595 Summit Lane, Riegelsville PA 18077
