Haute Couture: Dimensional Applique 1day workshop

Service Description

Learn the steps to adding a third dimension to your surface embellishment work. Starting first with a sturdy ground fabric, you will review the basic steps in fine decorative appliqué. Once the basics are understood, the work translates to the couture level with transparent appliqué on flexible ground fabrics such as silk organza and then to highly decorative appliqué with beaded & sequined textiles being applied as 3 dimensional shapes or flowers. Several of the techniques covered in class are regularly used on creations for the haute couture. This class is taught by fashion designer Pamela Ptak who makes custom garments for red carpet events & worked 12 seasons on designer collections for the Paris Haute Couture and NY Fashion Week. Bring to class notebook, scissors, hand sewing needles, threads of various colors. A kit with specialty silks, beaded fabrics and proper padding supplies for the lessons will be provided by the instructor.
