Service Description

Haute Couture Corsetry 1 introduces the concepts used in high fashion corsetry as well as hidden, internal corsets which hold up strapless dresses and gowns. Students start week 1 being measured to draft their first princess line corset which is sewn and fitted week 2. Then each week they proceed to the more elaborate and advanced forms. Each student makes a unique corset of their own design, at their own pace, guided by the knowledge and experience of the instructor. Covered details include busk front closures, all types of boning, edge supports & finishes, under-structures, linings & facings, grommets & lacing, and much more. Many corsetry examples will be featured each week to illustrate specific lessons. This class is appropriate for both new and experienced sewers who want to increase their creativity and make exceptional garments. Bring to first class: notebook & writing supplies, tape measure. Instructor will supply all materials needed in first class & provide a supply list for students to bring week 2.
