Service Description

The Creative Draping class is a more flexible variation on traditional Draping 1.
Students will begin week one draping muslin on a dress form (provided in class) to create the most important garment silhouette in fashion design...the garment sloper. The sloper fit muslin will be draped in several class sessions, converted to a paper pattern, then cut, assembled & tested on the dress form. This serves as the basis of the fit & can be the hidden structure or the lining of the garment. Next comes the unlimited creative portion... draping a unique second layer from your own imagination. Instructor Pamela Ptak will guide you as you develop your garment ideas for a style of your choosing. Students will finish this 8 week class with an understanding of the sloper, draping principals, and one (or more) patterns they can use in a sewing class to make actual garments. This class is designed for those who want to explore the creative process in a more flexible way. Pamela makes it her mission to increase your confidence while she teaches you rare creative techniques. If you do not have muslin or pattern paper, you may purchase these supplies from the instructor. Bring to first class: Notebook, sewing scissors, plain straight pins & no 2 pencils. Students may be added to class roster on first class day or after with instructor permission. This class meets at the designer's studio - 595 Summit Lane, Riegelsville PA 18077
