Age:16-adult

Service Description
For the serious draping student who wants to create innovative new forms with their draping. Working exclusively in muslin on the dressform, students will learn advanced theories in draping garments with unconventional shapes & silhouettes. The methods used in this class are not found in fashion design textbooks and require the student to set aside the conventional “rules” of draping and find new routes to creativity with cloth. Week one, students watch instructor demonstration of free draping a dress, then students proceed to free drape their own gown guided by Pamela and using methods presented. All gowns are draped on dress forms in muslin. Then the draping is trued in and converted to patterns. This class is taught by fashion designer Pamela Ptak who makes custom garments for red carpet events & worked 12 seasons on designer collections for the Paris Haute Couture and NY Fashion Week. Bring to first class: notebook & no. 2 pencils, sharp scissors. Most tools & supplies needed for this class are already in your collection, however any additional you need may be purchased in class or ordered online between class 1 & 2. Class Dates: This 12 week class includes several skipped weekends throughout the semester for larger homework assignments.
